Guest Post: Erotica....From A Man's Perspective with Scott @truedeadman

Mar 25, 2010

Today i would like to welcome Scott Romanski AKA @Truedeadman. He has stopped by today to give us his opinion on Erotica...From a Man's Perspective. So please help me welcome Scott!!! *clap clap clap*

Photobucket

Erotica....From A Man's Perspective.

Erotica is defined as works of art, including literature, photography, film, sculpture and painting, that deal substantively with erotically stimulating or sexually arousing descriptions. Erotica is a modern word used to describe the portrayal of the human anatomy and sexuality with high-art aspirations, differentiating such work from commercial pornography. Basically it is written to arouse the reader...and probably the author as well.

I first discovered the genre after reading Karen Marie Moning's Darkfever. I know you are saying to yourself..."that's not erotica!" I know it would probably fit into the "urban fantasy" niche, but hear me out. While reading the novel, I came across two sexually driven scenes. I, of course, was aroused by these scenes, and sought out Karen's official message board. There I discussed those scenes with other "Moning Maniacs" who opened my eyes to the Erotica genre, including passing along recommendations as to what authors wrote it, and who wrote what.

There are various styles/levels of erotica...Straight, GLBT, BDSM, etc.. I personally don't read those that are M/M. I have no issue with those works, i just don't particularly enjoy reading it. I mostly go for the "straight" erotica, although the BDSM can be fun to read, so long as it does go to the completely depraved side, which can be a real turn off and a DNF on the book.

I have read some Megan Hart, who I've found quite compelling. Her stories aren't just about "getting to the sex". They are wonderful stories, that without the sex scenes, would be great reads and be fulfilling. I've read some of the samples of the Price Sisters novels and have two of their e-books, which i still need to read...life has been quite busy lately. Their novels are fantastical, with all manners of "creatures" whom all seem to love the game of sex.

Why do i read this genre? Good question. I've been asking myself that for some time now. Let's face facts.....obviously, I'm a guy and i like sex. That is a natural reason. However, if it was just the sex...i could watch porn and get all the sex i wanted without the complications of story. So where does that leave me? It comes back to the story. If the story is intriguing, then it is a worthy read. If the story draws you in and makes you want to continue reading it, it doesn't matter if their are sex scenes in it. That is my perspective. I'm out for a good story, one that i can see in my mind's eye while i am reading. If there are some sex scenes that stimulate me in other areas....well...that is just a great bonus effect.

Interview: Author Jackie M Smith & Giveaway

Mar 23, 2010

Good evening all. I would like to welcome Jackie M. Smith  Author of Forever Yours.

M.J. Smith worked in customer service for many years before matching her personal interest in human nature with her passion for writing. She resides in Quebec, Canada and is currently working on her second and third novels.

JJBC~Do you read any reviews on your books?
JMS~Reviews are included in the media kit.

JJBC~Do you read your own books after they make it to final print?
JMS~Sometimes. I've read so much my own books during editing that I just put it aside and wait a while.

JJBC~What do you like to Read? Your Favorite Genre?
JMS~I love to read historical romances. Medievals are my favorites.

JJBC~Do you have a favorite book /series?
JMS~I never tire of Danielle Steele's Jewels.

JJBC~ How did you get into writing?
JMS~I started writing shorties stories and poems when I was in high school. Over the last ten years I continued writing on and off. And 4 years ago, I started writing pretty much full time.

JJBC~Did you always want to be a writer?
JMS~No. I wanted to be a fashion stylist. But that never worked out. So after some time I wondered what I wanted to do and what I was good at.

JJBC~How old were you when you began to write?
JMS~I was fourteen when I began writing.

JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
JMS~For now. It's a challenge. Thank goodness I have a very loving and understanding partner. He's a wonderful man.

JJBC~What’s a typical writing day for you like?
JMS~Right now, I get up early in the morning, turn on my computer and check my emails, facebook and twitter. Then, I post something about my book or giveaway. Then, I work on editing or writing.

JJBC~Do you set a daily writing goal?
JMS~I do set a daily writing goal. I try writing a few pages a day.

JJBC~When and where do you like to write?
JMS~I like writing in the evening after supper. I get comfortable on my sofa and start writing.

JJBC~Are there any processes you use when writing? Do you keep journals, sticky notes, chicken scratch on the back of receipts?
JMS~I do keep notepads around. At the beginning, I used to get scrap paper and write any ideas that popped into my head. Now, I discipline myself. Much better to find something.

JJBC~Do you prefer to write on a computer, typewriter, or paper and pen?
JMS~I write with paper and pencil first. Then I type everything.

JJBC~How long did you write before you became a published author?
JMS~It took me two years before becoming a published author. At first, I wrote for fun. Then, I said to myself why not get my story published. It takes a lot of courage and determination. In the end its all worth it.

JJBC~Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
JMS~Keep going. Don't give up if writing is something you love.

JJBC~~Is there anything else you would like to share with your followers today?
JMS~Don't miss my upcoming historical romance set in WWI called A Soldier's Vow. (Trailer and blurb below)

Forever Yours Book trailer
Uploaded by JackieMSmith. - Arts and animation videos.

JJBC~Can you tell you tell us a little bit about the book?
JMS~Forever Yours is a love story set in World War II England. Two childhood friends are reunited in a war and find love despite it.

JJBC~How did you come up with the idea for this book/series? From a dream, from watching tv, while reading another book?
JMS~The idea came for my book came to me like a flash. I was watching a WWII movie. I think it was Band of Brothers. But my book has nothing to do with American soldiers. My story talks about a female pilot who joins a Royal Air Force's woman squadron.

JJBC~~Did you have to do any type of research before writing this book?
JMS~I did have to research women pilots during WWII and make sure my idea wasn't too far fetched. But after all I found on the internet and documentaries, my idea was pretty accurate. I just pushed it a bit to make it exciting.

JJBC~Who’s your favorite character and why?
JMS~The heroine, Liz, for sure. She's feisty and determined.

JJBC~Did the overall book turn out like your original idea of the story?
JMS~My original idea is pretty much what the whole story is about. Only some details were changed.

JJBC~ Is this going to be a series?
JMS~Forever Yours will be part of a war series. But they will be at different times.

A Synopsis

In the midst of a war, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Williams answers the call of adventure. Liz leaves home and travels to the RAF’s training camp in the South of England and begins training. She knows her childhood friend is training at the same camp and wonders deep down if she will see him.
Philip MacLeod enrolls in the army as soon as the war breaks in Europe. He receives a letter from his mother letting him know Liz joined the war effort. He keeps his promise to his mother, and waits for Liz’s arrival.

Seeing each other again throws Philip completely off guard. He finds she frequently invades his thoughts, and he desires her.

Liz is in love with Philip, but that will not stop her from flying in the Royal Air Force’s woman squadron. The two share a passionate kiss the first evening they spend alone since her arrival on the training base. When Liz gets the chance to fly, she is frustrated that her squadron is often grounded, and they don’t take part in combats like the other male squadrons. Reconnaissance missions are next on her list. Philip is not happy with her decision to join reconnaissance missions. Indeed, he’s afraid to lose her. He has been promoted and given authority to stop Liz, but she angrily confronts him in his office. He kisses her in hopes she understands how much he loves her and doesn’t want to lose her; Liz is determined.

On a weekend away from the base, Liz visits her aunt and uncle in London. Philip follows her and declares his love for her. They share a passionate night, and Philip gives her his grandmother's engagement ring, promising his undying love to her.

After months of training and a few combat flights, Liz and Philip go on a reconnaissance mission into enemy territory. They are met with heavy artillery fire that kills Philip's best friend and Liz is shot down. After exhaustive searches, Philip loses hope of ever finding her again.

Liz is trapped in enemy territory, and she doesn’t remember her life before the crash. Arnaud, a young and handsome French painter saves her life and helps her recover from her wounds and regain her memory. With no hopes of a rescue from Philip or the Allies she falls in love with Arnaud and discovers he belongs to the French Resistance. Liz and Arnaud share passionate moments and get to know each other. But Liz loves Philip too much to let him go. She prays he will find her and bring her home.

During one of his missions in Normandy, Philip is injured when an enemy sniper fires at him. He is sent to England where he meets Anabelle. He falls in love with her but knows Liz is his one true love.

In Normandy, Liz overhears Arnaud talking about the allied invasion with one of his friends. She prepares to leave but Arnaud insists she waits for his return. Determined, she leaves Arnaud’s house in the middle of the night dressed in his borrowed clothes and heads towards the Allies’ rendez-vous point. But danger lurks around her. Enemy soldiers roam everywhere. They are ready to shoot anyone trying to leave the area.

The Allied invasion begins and Philip is sent into enemy territory once more. He and his fellow paratroopers prepare the sectors where the allies should land. Once his mission complete, Philip returns to base set up in a Norman farmhouse. In the early morning light, he finds Liz seriously wounded and unconscious. He finds the ring he gave her on a chain around her neck and prays she will be his wife. He stays with her until he is forced to leave for another mission.

Liz is sent home to recover from her wounds. She looks for her ring Philip gave her, and she gives up hope on ever seeing him again. She volunteers at a nearby hospital in London.

Philip returns to London to find Liz. He sees her sitting on a bench with another man and leaves without saying a word. He returns to the front until the end of the war.

Once the war over, Liz goes back home and is reunited with her family. She lives her life, but she never forgets Philip.

When Philip finds Liz at home she doesn’t show him affection. Her parents encourage him to fight for her and their love. He waits for Liz to show him some sign she still loves him.

Finding her in the family’s cabin, Philip tells Liz how much he loves her and promises his undying devotion to her. After months without seeing each other, they make amends in a passionate reunion.

Praise for Forever Yours

Grab a cozy chair, a hot cup of tea, and get ready for a journey you will never forget in Forever Yours. MJ Smith indeed places the audience deep into the action of the war, along with the men and women behind the lines as they fight the raging war during World War II. I could feel how strongly Philip felt when he heard about Liz when her plane went down with the enemy beckoning every corner. There were so many touching moments especially when Philip was holding the flowers while seeing Liz. My heart broke right along with his. This is one story that ranks high in powerful emotions.
Coffee Time Review

Forever Yours is a romantic romp through Europe during World War II, continuing well after VE Day. This is an action packed story from the battlefields to the bedroom, with a lot of romance, a lot of tension, sexual and otherwise. Once I grew accustomed to her writing style the story flowed. Definitely a page turner!
Romancing the Pubs

Forever Yours is a touching romantic tale of two young people who discover true love in war torn Europe while heroically serving their country. Their story of love, loss and devotion tugs at the heart strings while engaging the reader in realities of war.
