Interview: Author Jackie M Smith & Giveaway
Mar 23, 2010
Good evening all. I would like to welcome Jackie M. Smith Author of Forever Yours.
M.J. Smith worked in customer service for many years before matching her personal interest in human nature with her passion for writing. She resides in Quebec, Canada and is currently working on her second and third novels.
JJBC~Do you read any reviews on your books?
JMS~Reviews are included in the media kit.
JJBC~Do you read your own books after they make it to final print?
JMS~Sometimes. I've read so much my own books during editing that I just put it aside and wait a while.
JJBC~What do you like to Read? Your Favorite Genre?
JMS~I love to read historical romances. Medievals are my favorites.
JJBC~Do you have a favorite book /series?
JMS~I never tire of Danielle Steele's Jewels.
JJBC~ How did you get into writing?
JMS~I started writing shorties stories and poems when I was in high school. Over the last ten years I continued writing on and off. And 4 years ago, I started writing pretty much full time.
JJBC~Did you always want to be a writer?
JMS~No. I wanted to be a fashion stylist. But that never worked out. So after some time I wondered what I wanted to do and what I was good at.
JJBC~How old were you when you began to write?
JMS~I was fourteen when I began writing.
JJBC~Is writing your full time job?
JMS~For now. It's a challenge. Thank goodness I have a very loving and understanding partner. He's a wonderful man.
JJBC~What’s a typical writing day for you like?
JMS~Right now, I get up early in the morning, turn on my computer and check my emails, facebook and twitter. Then, I post something about my book or giveaway. Then, I work on editing or writing.
JJBC~Do you set a daily writing goal?
JMS~I do set a daily writing goal. I try writing a few pages a day.
JJBC~When and where do you like to write?
JMS~I like writing in the evening after supper. I get comfortable on my sofa and start writing.
JJBC~Are there any processes you use when writing? Do you keep journals, sticky notes, chicken scratch on the back of receipts?
JMS~I do keep notepads around. At the beginning, I used to get scrap paper and write any ideas that popped into my head. Now, I discipline myself. Much better to find something.
JJBC~Do you prefer to write on a computer, typewriter, or paper and pen?
JMS~I write with paper and pencil first. Then I type everything.
JJBC~How long did you write before you became a published author?
JMS~It took me two years before becoming a published author. At first, I wrote for fun. Then, I said to myself why not get my story published. It takes a lot of courage and determination. In the end its all worth it.
JJBC~Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
JMS~Keep going. Don't give up if writing is something you love.
JJBC~~Is there anything else you would like to share with your followers today?
JMS~Don't miss my upcoming historical romance set in WWI called A Soldier's Vow. (Trailer and blurb below)

JJBC~Can you tell you tell us a little bit about the book?
JMS~Forever Yours is a love story set in World War II England. Two childhood friends are reunited in a war and find love despite it.
JJBC~How did you come up with the idea for this book/series? From a dream, from watching tv, while reading another book?
JMS~The idea came for my book came to me like a flash. I was watching a WWII movie. I think it was Band of Brothers. But my book has nothing to do with American soldiers. My story talks about a female pilot who joins a Royal Air Force's woman squadron.
JJBC~~Did you have to do any type of research before writing this book?
JMS~I did have to research women pilots during WWII and make sure my idea wasn't too far fetched. But after all I found on the internet and documentaries, my idea was pretty accurate. I just pushed it a bit to make it exciting.
JJBC~Who’s your favorite character and why?
JMS~The heroine, Liz, for sure. She's feisty and determined.
JJBC~Did the overall book turn out like your original idea of the story?
JMS~My original idea is pretty much what the whole story is about. Only some details were changed.
JJBC~ Is this going to be a series?
JMS~Forever Yours will be part of a war series. But they will be at different times.

Hello Jackie!!!
My question is; Why this era?
:-)
Hi Jackie and JoJo! Great interview. I must say that this is not the type of book I would usually choose to read, but I am intrigued none the less. I usually leave the war history to my husband :)
The video trailers are great!
I would love the chance to try this novel. Thank you!

I really enjoyed the interview and the book trailer. Where do you get your ideas for your books? Although they are historical do you get the ideas from what's going on around you?
