Winners, AAD Meet and Greet, Blog Tours, Giveaways, And And And.......
Jan 16, 2011
Hi everyone! *waves uncontrollably* I have missed you all!! *looks around* What.... no one has noticed I have been gone?!? *sniffles* But...But.... Oh wait I think I see one hand way way WAY in the back.........Anyhoo ;0) I have been gone for over 2 weeks due to lack of Internet usage. Yes I am one of those who live in the middle of nowhere (well at least the utility companies think i do) and I am limited to very few options for Internet service, and unfortunately with my Internet I only get 5GB of usage per month. So I ran out wayyyyy to early this last month. *shakes fists* Damn you Facebook Cityville......Damn you addictive games! LOL
Anyway being off for over 2 weeks I have a bunch of stuff to fill you all in on! There is so much stuff going on my head is still spinning. So grab those drinks and snacks cause this may take a little while. Hopefully I have some wonderful stuff that interests you so no one gets bored. So grab all your needed stuff and lets begin.
Challenges:
First off I'm just gonna touch base on challenges. I am currently updating my 2010 challenge list with everything I have completed in the last year. So as soon as I get that done I will be posting it for anyone who wants to check back and look. You never know there could be some great reads on there you might like to try.
As far as 2011 challenges I have yet to find any that have peeked my interest. If any of you know of some good ones, or have started a challenge of your own please do share. Hopefully I will have a few new challenges chosen by the time I do my 2010 challenge post. So I can share with you all what I am taking part in.
Also If any of you know of a good HTML code or way for me to keep track of the % of my challenges in my sidebar please let me know.
BLI 1 Year old:
As many of you know I am also a member of the group blog Book Lovers Inc or AKA BLI I still can't believe it but we are officially 1 year old! *pulls out party poppers and throws confetti* And right now on BLI we have 2 amazing weeks planned to celebrate. With Author take overs, giveaways, and so much more! But to make things even better, instead of us making the authors work, and answer questions, they are interrogating putting us on the spot. Its going to be such a blast! Here are a few of the giveaways that are already open:
3- Carolyn Crane + Contest
4- Moira Rogers + Contest
For the other giveaways and when they will post , look on the side bar of the BLI Blog

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *faints* For those of you who have been here a while, know Larissa is one of my FAVORITE authors ever! So thats in itself is just totally freakin kick ass! Donations for a cause:

Looking for donation items
So I have 2 great causes this year I am asking for your help on with donations--Pets Alive and the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer. If you could take a moment to read about both, and if you are interested in helping with either one, please fill out the form HERE . I also ask if you would so kindly help spread the word by Twitter, a blog post, a Facebook post, anything you can do! Thank you again for taking the time to stop by!
Authors After Dark Conference - Each year they do a Charity Baskets Raffle and ALL proceeds go to the choosen Charity. This years choosen Charity is:
(FROM AAD WEBSITE)
This year we are doing our charity raffle for an extremely deserving charity: Pets Alive. Pets Alive is a front runner in the ongoing fight against animal cruelty.
Pets Alive is an animal rescue in Middletown, NY that is commited to helping animals no matter where they are. Home to over 50 dogs and over 50 cats at any given time, as well as horses, livestock, birds, reptiles and any other animal thats been abandoned the staff of Pets Alive run a wonderful rescue that has gotten national acclaim. They have helped closed countless puppy mills and rescued dogs from Puerto Rico’s hated Dead Dog Beach. From their website:
Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary is one of the oldest no-kill organizations in the United States. The mission of the sanctuary is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place animals into loving homes. Last year, Pets Alive saved more than one thousand animals. Pets Alive is recognized within the local community, nationwide and around the world, as a leader in developing alliances to end the killing of adoptable animals and promoting the humane treatment of animals.
Both of these deserving charities run completely on donations, and we are hoping to raise $2000 this year to help with the day to day running of the Pets Alive compound!
So this is what I am working on doing. Authors and Publishers are donating gift baskets full of goodies from everything book related, to anything you can think of for the fans to donate to win. Last year they even had a cute little doggie gift basket! Well I thought why not try to put a few gift baskets together myself with the help of you! The big animal lover I am, I am always for helping out the worlds best 4 legged companions!
So what do you say? Do you have a book you would like to donate? A piece of handmade jewlery? Or a handmade Bookmark? How about a $10 GC to a book store, or coffee shop? Absolutly anything and everything will work! I would like to put together at least 2 gift baskets so anything you can donate, will be more than appreciated! (please no used items)

#2
The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s™ is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Since 1989, this walk has mobilized millions to join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease, raising more than $347 million for the cause. Events are held annually in the fall in nearly 600 communities nationwide. With more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer's, and nearly 11 million more serving as caregivers, the time to act is now!
Walking to END Alzheimers
Team Bubby
For the last 2 years my best friend, my mom and I have taken part in the Walk to END Alzheimer's. And last year I had some of you who were wonderful in donating for the cause. This year I would like to take it one step further. I am looking for a few of you who are willing to donate signed books, swag, maybe a book store GC, anything book related. What I would like to do is give back to those of you who donate for this cause. How it will work is everyone who donates to the charity, will be entered to win a prize. But that is later on towards the end of the year. Right now I am looking for your help in donated items. So please head on down and fill out the form. And thank you for taking the time to help out!
Please go and fill out the form HERE, and please HELP SPREAD THE WORD!

Winners:
And Last but certainly not least I have the winners from December from the monthly change giveaway. I do apologize for being so late with this, but with no Internet for over 2 weeks it has made things terribly difficult. But to make things up to you, instead of having just the one winner of who guessed the closest, I am also picking a random winnier from everyone who entered! So now onto the winners:
The first winner of my "A Penny a Day, Means a Book Giveaway" was only $1.26 off from what was in my jar. The jar contained $23.34
And our winner who had a guess of $24.60 is
Jecca
And our random winner is
Lisa G.
Congrats Winners!!!!
**winners have 48 hours to email me at ( jojosbookcornerATgmailDOTcom ) with their address and the name of the book they would like ($10 or under) or new winners will be drawn.
Thank you so much for spending your afternoon with me catching up on the past 2 weeks. I hope to see you back tomorrow when we kick off a crazy busy and fantastic filled year!!!
