Day #19 Birthday Bash with Stella Price

Jun 5, 2010

Welcome to Day #19 of JoJo's 30 Day Birthday Bash with the hillarious Author Stella Price! Help me give a great big warm welcome to Stella! *clap clap clap*

Stella Price

~Can you tell us a little about yourself? I’m 31, look like I’m about 22, live in NY with my hunny and my evil dog Moo. I’m a Gemini, and I’m also the executive director for the Authors After Dark convention.
*YAY!!!! Happy Birthday to you too!!!, And i'm a Gemini too!!!!*

~Fav color: Blue

~Fav Scent: Lavender

~Fav Flavor: strawberry

~Fav shampoo: Rusk Calm

~Fav movies: top 5: Labyrinth, Legend, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fall and MirrorMask
*OMG, I loved Labyrinth, and Legend!!! Oh and The Dark Crystal!*
~What are some of your favorite Hero / Heroine names? I like names that are different that people will remember. You wont ever find a Michael or Tony in our books, unless they are going to be killed. Anyway, some of my favorite names are Arcady, Feyd, Arlo, Felix, Gavin and I love the name Astrid. If I ever have a kid, and it’s a girl, I’m naming her Astrid.

~Do you read any reviews on your books? Actually yes. Good or bad, they help to make the next book better.

~Do you read your own books after they make it to final print? Yes. I look at it as this: I wrote it because I loved the story and I wanna revisit it on occasion. It might sound a bit egotistical, but really its because I love our characters.

~What do you like to Read? Your Favorite Genre? I have a tie between Paranormal romance, Steampunk and horror.

~Do you have a favorite book /series? Yes. I love Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark Series. It’s the top of my autobuy list.

~Is writing your full time job? Yes. Well its one of my full time jobs. The other is graphic art. Im a cover artist and promotional designer.

~Whats the best thing about being an author? I think its being able to share your ideas with the world. So many people go unnoticed and writing, while you might not get the acclaim you want when you want it, what you do lasts forever in some way shape or form.

~Whos your favorite hero/heroine? In my own books? My favorite hero is Drake because he’s the Anti hero, and Heroine? Hmmm, I gotta go with Janey Duvall, she’s damn brutal.

~What are you reading at the moment? Nothing. I don’t have time to right now. It’s a sad thing. The last thing I read though was Deeper by Megan Hart.

~Do you have any advice for aspiring writers? WRITE WHAT YOU LOVE. Don’t write to fit a trend. There will be a place for you and your ideas.

~How man books / series have you written? We have 18 books out, 10 series all together right now with a bunch of short stories.

~Can you tell us about some of them? There’s so many! LOL. We have the second in our American Satyr series coming our in September. The series is about a subculture in the us, a cousin of demons, that live off the sexual adoration of the women in their lives.

~How do you come up with character names? I don’t like normal everyday names because our characters are not normal everyday people. So we pull names from old baby books, and other places we hear them.

~Do you have a new release, or a new release coming out soon? Can you tell us about it? Our most recent release was the book You Burn Me. Its about a surly fire demon that falls for a feisty witch… it’s a lot sweeter then the normal work we do, but it works for the story.

You Burn Me
By Stella and Audra Price

A priestess of The Morrigan, Xxieda Rolla is a woman who has known success in her business, fulfillment in her family life and is only missing one thing: the love of the man that would have her for always. Sent to Shadow Heights New York by her goddess to find him, she meets the ever tasty, ever surly Dante Barratt. Sparks fly, and so does Amaretto Latte.
Dante, a dealer of rare and illegal commodities, and a very tempestuous fire demon might want the woman who's brown eyes haunt him, but knows better then to get involved with someone who just screams purity. Shes hot, and successful in ways he never could be, and knows a man that just gave away his soul like he did didn't deserve a woman like that.
After a chance encounter on a dark street corner, and an earth shattering kiss, Both are powerless to deny the chemistry between them... until Xxieda tells him her secret: shes a virgin.
Caught between his head and his heart, can Dante accept the fact that Fate sometimes gives us exactly what we really need, not what we think we want?

~Can you tell you tell us a little bit about the book? In this book, Dante, our fire demon is pursued by Xxieda, a witch he meets in a coffee shop. She thinks hes the man shes sent to the city to meet. This is a spin off story from out Eververse series.

~Whos your favorite character and why? I love Rhys in this book. He is the heroine’s best friend. Hes a caustic drunk rockstar that has his own issues he needs to work out but he still manages to cause tons of havoc for both Dante and Xxieda, even if he means well.

~Are any of your characters based on people in your life? HELL NO. I wish I knew lunatics like this. It would make life a hell of a lot more interesting.

~Did the overall book turn out like your original idea of the story? Yes.

~Can you tell us a little bit about the characters? Dante is a surly self-deprecating man who operates in the shadows, and Xxieda, is a fun loving witch with goals. Both of them need something they are missing in their lives, and they fight like hell against it.

~Can you tell us a little bit about when and where the story takes place? It takes place now, in a place called Shadow Heights, which is a fictional city in upstate NY.

~Do you have any idea how many book are going to be in this series? Its part of the Eververse series, so there will be a total of 8 books.

~Do you have a webiste or blog that your readers can keep up with you and your books? Yep: http://www.stellaandaudra.com and
 http://stellaandaudra.blogspot.com

Morning, I have never read any book by Stella and they do look good. I like the one Softline at Midnight. I hope it comes in print form..does it? I was quite interested in the article and what a great way to get to know a new author. susan L. garysue@dejazzd.com

Stella Price June 5, 2010 at 7:32 AM

Hi Susan.

The Soft Edge of Midnight IS in print and you can get it off amazon. If you read it, Please let me know what you think of it. Its our extremely underrated book, and its sad because it won love scene of he year from Ecata Sensual in 2007 and several Fantasm Awards.

Well thank you Carol! LOL!

The Soft Edge of Midnight Is one of our favorites, though if your feeling adventurous, try our Weresnake novel. Its nor creepy or snakey, I swear, and its more an urban fantasy then anything... You might like it!

I read Entwined by Fate. I liked it, but was still a little squiked out by the snake thing. I harbor deep prejudice against snakes. Sorry. But I would read something else by her in a red hot minute cause the writing was good and the chemistry was hot!

I always like when authors pick weird and random names for their characters, it makes them more interesting. I haven't read any of the books, but the Snakes are really appealing to me. Which is weird, because I do not like snakes (scared really).
