Which man is her destiny? Charlotte Jackson knows everything about her small portion of the galaxy but nothing about the secrets of her heart.
When her ship is attacked by the very beings Garreth wants to save them from, Charlotte and Jax will have to put their feelings for the blue-haired alien aside and focus on saving not only themselves but the entire galaxy. What the three find at the end could be the most valuable commodity of all.
Her life is as unstable as a supernova when her ship—the Copernicus—is visited by a blue-haired alien who calls himself Garreth. He tells her he’d like to build an alliance with Earth to improve the dire problems of both their planets. As if intergalactic space negotiations weren’t complicated enough, Charlotte finds herself more than a little attracted to the man who she should be thinking about in only the most professional terms. This does nothing to make her second-in-command—and would-be lover Jax—any more relaxed about the whole cooperation.
My Thoughts
Blink is my second time reading a SCI-FI and a very good choice at that. I’d have to say the only thing that I found wrong with blink is the fact that it was not long enough! I WANTED MORE!
In blink we get the point of view of three different characters. We gets Charlotte who is the captain, we gets Jax who’s basically her right hand man, and we get Garreth whose an alien called Daridian. To start off I’ll talk about Charlotte.
Charlotte’s stuck in a life she does not want to be in, and is put in the position she is In due to her father. Living in a military life, being an only child and a daughter at that, her father forces her into the life she lives as if she was his son. After things going completely wrong on her old ship the Merlin, she is put in charge of the Copernicus whether she wants to be are not. As a girl who thinks more with her emotions then she does with her mind, she has a hard time figuring out what the right thing to do is, at the right time. I have to say honestly I actually enjoyed Charlotte's character. She didn’t always know the right thing to do, and sometimes she based her decisions off her heart rather than logic, but in the end she turned out to be a very good Captain. I was excited to continue to read to see how she fought through the struggles with Jax, Garreth aliens, and everything else going on, and see how she’s grown as a person and a captain and see how the true Charlotte comes out to be

Next we have Jax. Jax is Charlotte's right hand man and will do anything in his power to help her. Jax has had feelings for Charlotte for a long time, and does small things to try to get her attention. Though Charlotte blows off his signals he still tries and tries and tries hoping one day she will wake up and realize she has the same feelings for him. Jax is an honest man but sometimes he lets his machoness get in the way, and ends up saying things before he completely thinks it through. Again I extremely enjoyed Jax’s character, who's very strong, macho, and apparently has a very big heart. Watching the struggles between Jax’s and Charlotte, and then adding in Garreth was actually very enjoyable. I couldn’t put the book down. Every time I started reading I just want to continue and continue and continue to see what was gonna happen next.
Last but not least we have Garreth. Garreth is from another planet, and has come here to try to help earth and the human race. Garreth’s race is similar to humans, but on the very, very intelligent side. He has a hard time adapting to the human population with the fact that humans live their lives by their emotions. The world Garreth comes from, they do not use emotions. So the more time Garreth spends on charlotte’s ship he finds himself struggling with the emotions overpowering him. I’m not a huge fan of Garreth as he seems very cocky, and I think it has to do with him thinking his race is more superior to the human population. Now im not saying that the story would’ve been better without Garreth, because he is a huge part of the story but I’m telling ya there were times that I just wanted to slap the snot out of him!
All in all Sandra has really outdone herself, and Blink has helped grow my interests and love in the SCI FI genre. Again as I said above I would’ve really liked to have more from the story. I’m not by any means saying the story was lacking, because Sandra has done a wonderful job and it is by far not lacking anything. I just was not ready to finish the book! LOL I would’ve been 100% OK if the story was doubled in size with what it is. I do hope she continues on with this as a series. Though I’m not sure how she would tie the characters in, or if she even needs to tie the characters in, but it’s the world that she’s created I do hope she continues with as it was very enjoyable. She’s added a mix of futuristic and current to create her world which I believe is one of the things I really liked about the story. It’s not completely off the wall, it’s not so far out there that we have absolutely no idea what she’s talking about, but there still are parts that make you sit back and think wow, now that would be pretty cool. Very, very excellent read!
Snippet
Her face darkened with annoyance. “Why are we even talking about this now?”
“It will take centuries for you to understand the level of freedom we operate on.”
Frustration rose within him at her inability to relate to him.
“What do you mean?”
“To Daridians emotions are a waste of time that could be spent in higher pursuits. Anything beyond the discovery of new and pertinent technology is irrelevant with my people.”
“How can you call that freedom?”

6 Hottie Follwers Thoughts:
Since I don't really read much Sci-Fi it would have to Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress Series. I love them all!
Surprisingly, I'm not a big Sci-Fi reader, although when mixed with romance, it does peak my interest. I read Illegal Alien by Robert J. Sawyer earlier this year and really enjoyed it, and I am anxious to read Blink.
I love scifi romance. I love Judy Mays Celestial Seasons series, Touched by an Alien by Gina Koch, anything else I can get my hands on that is a scifi romance.
I'm not a huge sci-fi romance reader...
Jayne Castle's series is more of a futuristic/paranormal, but probably the closest I read to sci fi. Zinnia, Amarylis, Orchid and her entire Ghost Hunters books are always enjoyable.

I read quite a lot of scifi but I can't remember the last romance scifi I read. Obviously did not make an ompression on me.
So maybe it is time I tried another one !
