Blog Bash Day1 with Cynthia Eden + Giveaway

Aug 1, 2011

Hi, everyone!  And happy anniversary to you, JoJo!

jensen-ackles-jensen-ackles-6505537-413-475 Of course, what celebration would be complete without a handsome man around?  My guy of choice? Jensen Ackles from Supernatural (he plays bad-boy demon hunter Dean—a truly awesome character). Sure, he may not have giant, bulging muscles (though I think he looks pretty darn good), but the guy has a wicked good grin, and he’s someone you could always count on in a fight. Sexy.

Since we’ve got the guy, now we need a fun treat for this party. Let’s add some chocolate. (How could we not?)  I thought I’d take a few quick moments and share one of my favorite (fast) chocolate recipes with you:
(This recipe comes from one of my fave books—Cook’s Library Chocolate—my go-to-guide for all chocolate dishes):
  1. You’ll need the following ingredients: 1 lb 2 oz/500 g of milk chocolate (some folks might want to use bittersweet chocolate here, but I’m a milk chocolate girl), 1/3 cup sweet butter, 1 ¾ cups condensed milk, and ½ tsp vanilla extract
  2. Start by greasing an 8 inch cake pan.
  3. Break up the chocolate into pieces (or, sometimes I cheat and just use chocolate chips so no breaking is required). Put the chocolate into a big pot (or large pan) with the butter and condensed milk.
  4. Heat up your mix. Stir it until the mix is smooth—don’t let it boil!
  5. Take the pot away from the heat. Beat your vanilla extract (beat it, baby!), then mix that extract with your fudge mixture—beat everything until it is thickened.
  6. Now go back to that 8 inch cake pan—pour the mixture inside and make sure the top is level.  Put the cake pan in the refrigerator until your fudge is firm.
  7. When firm, you can take the fudge out and cut it into nice, easy-to-bite pieces.

And you’ve got yourself a sweet treat.

Now that we’ve got our hot guy and our decadent dish…we just need a book to go along with this fun.

So how about I do a book giveaway?  My December release, ANGEL OF DARKNESS, is the first book in my new Fallen series—a series about the Angels of Death.  These guys aren’t sweet, innocent cherubs who are here to protect and nurture. Instead, they’re tough, strong, dangerous guys who can kill—quite literally—with a touch.

Here’s the ANGEL OF DARKNESS blurb for you:Angel-of-Darkness

As an angel of death, Keenan’s job is to collect the souls on his list. He’s carried out his duty for two thousand years and never faltered once. Until he meets Nicole St. James.  When the moment of death comes, Keenan hesitates, and instead of taking Nicole, Keenan touches the vampire who’s attacking her.

Cast out of heaven for disobedience, Keenan plummets to earth. Six months later, he finally manages to track Nicole to a bar in Mexico. He’s stunned to discover that the woman he remembers has undergone a dramatic change—she’s become a vampire. And when he realizes that she’s the target of all manner of enemies—other vampires, demons, even shifters—he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if all hell breaks loose…

***Want to win?  Then tell me…

Have a great celebration!

Awesome cover! No need to enter me in the contest. Just wanted to drop by and say, I can't to read this.

WK August 1, 2011 at 12:47 PM

Wow what an awesome post Cynthia!!! You know already that I'm eager for this book!!!!! And yes Jensen is hot.LOL

What I love most about romance novels, that no matter what love truimphs. No matter if a murder is after you, or some evil spirit or a vampire/shifter or any other creature that can be imagined. Even if it takes several books to get there, even if it's good vs evil, and the evil is sometimes good..........no matter what genre you put it,no matter who the couple is or what race or anything else, in the end we get a HEA and we know that LOVE TRUIMPHS over it all. That is what I LOVE about romance novels. They help me escape yes, they help me relax, yes, they give me all sorts of pleasure yes, but over it all if I don't get a HEA or at least know that in the next book or the next there will somewhere somehow be HEA and love will overcome it all, then it's not romance.

hugs,
WendyK

Tiffaney August 1, 2011 at 12:49 PM

My favorite thing about romances is the chemistry between characters, and I don't mean the sex (though that is nice too :-D ) but I like to see characters grow closer together and triumph over their adversity. Thank you for doing this contest!

What I love is the feelings you get when the first time they say I love you. And no matter how bad your day is a good love story makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

nicolesender August 1, 2011 at 1:14 PM

I enjoy romance novels because the characters are engaging and the endings make you feel good. Reading should give you a sense of entertainment and pleasure.

Raonaid Luckwell August 1, 2011 at 1:15 PM

What I love about romance books. Anymore, in this time and era, romance seems to be about dead. You see / hear many people divorcing, etc. Romance books give you a sense of hope, that romance is not ever dead.

Plus, you seem to get a sense of closure and connections with the characters, the places. It activiates your mind, pull at your heart strings.

BLHmistress August 1, 2011 at 1:36 PM

I love the meeting, the fighting of their feelings up to their declarations and finally the 'sigh' Happily Ever After.

Claire Gardien,  August 1, 2011 at 2:03 PM

I love romance novels because they let me escape from the real world and read something where the good guys always win and the guy gets the girl.

Romance novels make me feel good and in today's world you have to take what you can get.

Love Supernatural by the way!! Jensen is such a cutie and I love his character Dean!

michele August 1, 2011 at 2:04 PM

I'm a "happily ever after" kinda of gal, but I do enjoy the thrill getting to that point.

What an awesome prize Cynthia, so would love to win this one :)

I love how romance novels celebrates love and relationships. Whether the journey is a light-hearted, fun one or a dark one filled with trials and tribulations love always conquers.

Jen B. August 1, 2011 at 3:34 PM

I like romance for the same reason I like just about any fiction book. It is fiction and has the ability to whish me away to something that isn't my life. Plus, fiction has introduced me to history and geography and politics etc. that I never knew about. I have actually read non-fiction books because of something I read in a romance. I even have a couple of trips on my list because of romance novels.

angel August 1, 2011 at 6:15 PM

I love how the main characters always find themselves in a conflict. The atmosphere is one of the best parts of a romance book.
I also like it when the two main characters fight each other about their feelings. It makes you want to read more to find out who gives in first.

I like the great stories, the wonderful characters, but most of all, I like the happily ever after. Life doesn't always turn out that way, so I love to be able to read those wonderful love stories that turn out just how they should.

Ursula Gorman August 1, 2011 at 6:49 PM

I love being swept up in the romance. Life is too hard sometimes and it is nice to lose all the stress and frustration of the day, at least while you are in the 'heat' of the moment in the romance. The best kind of romance, other than sexy hot, is humorous. It's great when the story has humor! What a great escape!

Diane August 1, 2011 at 6:49 PM

So happy to "see" you hear Cynthia!
I loved the blurb and am looking forward to Angel of Darkness.
What do i love most about romance books?
The romance, the happy ending, the fun getting to the happy ending. The love you can feel flowing between the characters. The warm glow where your heart is.

Audrey A August 1, 2011 at 7:23 PM

That there's always a happy ending. I can't stand reading a book and getting emotionally invested in characters and having a horrible depressing ending.

Anonymous,  August 1, 2011 at 7:40 PM

I love the emotional content of romance stories. How each character has their own personality but yet, finds their happily ever-after with someone that you didn't suspect. I don't like sad endings where the good guy (or bad guy even)doesn't get the girl.

Romance novels are fun!

marlenebreakfield(at)yahoo(dot)com

Kathy Miller,  August 1, 2011 at 8:16 PM

A romance is a story that engages my heart and heart felt emotions. It need not be pretty, soft or even sweet. In fact I prefer it to be intense, with stomach clinching, hold your breath moments that two people discovering love can inspire. I want to walk the uneven path of falling in love along with the hero and heroine.
