AAD Meet and Greet: Author Crymsyn Hart Interview + Giveaway
Mar 21, 2011
interest in the paranormal started in childhood. It spurred on her delving into the darkness of her imagination to produce various worlds filled with the undead, shape shifters, dark angels, and everything else with fangs.
Using the knowledge of all her years as a professional psychic, she has incorporated these experiences into her works. To date, Crymsyn has published over forty novels with several different publishers, such as Amira Press and Purple Sword Publications. She graduated with a BFA in Writing, Literature, & Publishing from Emerson College.
Crymsyn now resides in North Carolina with her husband and two over sized lapdogs.
About you:
Do you have any hobbies?
Most of my hobbies include watching horror movies, reading, crocheting, getting tattoos when I can, obsessing over good Chai tea, and collecting Living Dead Dolls, because we all need little spooky dolls in their own coffins around the house. Annoying the hubby is a fun past time, along with finding a good graveyard to hang out in.
What do you like to read?
I prefer to read horror novels when I can get my hands on them. If not, I’m reading about vampires in all of their guises from sexy to gory. I read the occasional crime thriller and fantasy novels.
Can you tell us some of your favorite books you've read?
One of my favorite books are The Making of a Monster by Gail Petersen which is actually an anti-love story. I’ve read it more than any of novels in my library. Another is The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley probably because I connect with it on such a deep level.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Favorite authors are Marion Zimmer Bradley, Gail Baudino, Nancy Kilpatrick, Nancy Collins, L.A. Banks, Christopher Moore, Jean Auel, and a whole slew of others.
If you can meet any author in person dead or alive, who would it be and why him/her?
Probably Edgar Allen Poe. Always loved his stuff. He has such a great insight into the human psyche that I’d enjoy seeing what made him tick.
AAD:
What part of AAD are you most looking forward to?
I’m just looking forward to meeting other authors and the readers who are going to be coming to the convention. The whole thing is a new experience as I haven’t been to AAD before so not sure what to expect. Just craziness from what I hear.
What do you hope to walk away with from AAD?
Just a great experience and new friends with the people I meet there.
Have you ever been to AAD before? If so what was your favorite part?
I have not attended before, but am looking forward to it.
Are you on any panels? if so can you tell us which ones to look for you on?
I am on the Erotica Panel and the e-book panel
Your Writing:
How did you first get into writing? Has it always been your dream?
I first started writing when I was a child. From there I took writing classes in college and forced my friends to read all of the stories I wrote. It has always been a dream of mine to share my work with others.
What genre do you write?
I write Paranormal Erotica with a hint of the dark. Since I find myself drawn toward horror more it is always a challenge to balance the darker elements in my writing with just the erotica.
Do you have any must haves when you sit down to write?
There’s nothing I absolutely have to have when I’m writing. I prefer to be away from my dogs, because they constantly want attention, and a good cup of chai, as it’s one of my down falls.
Can you tell us how a typical writing day for you is?
Well before it was coming home from work, getting hubby squared away for dinner and then writing, but now that the day job is gone, I’m spending my days writing. Getting up, eating breakfast and locking myself away in my office and typing away with a good soundtrack going or DVD episodes of Supernatural in the background going.
What is one thing you think sets you apart from other authors?
I don’t know if I have anything in particular that sets me aside from anyone else. I write. That’s what I do. We all have a different writing style. Some people write BDSM, some write strictly alternative lifestyles. I write anything with fangs or that goes but in the night. I like to let my imagination take me to the other side of reality where anything goes.
Your Books:
Can you share with us anything you are currently working on?
I am currently working on a dragon shifter m/m/f ménage called Dragon Awakening. Soon to be released from Amira Press.
What's Elise to do when she finds, Oran, a naked man on her front lawn?
Oran can't get his helpful hostess out of his mind. There's something about her that calls to him. While he is recuperating, he dreams about her and realizes that Elise is his second mate. The only problem is his first mate is in the other realm, and Oran has no way of returning. It isn't until Drake shows up, naked on Elise's doorstep, that his hope returns.
They have to convince Drake that Elise is meant to be with them. And then figure out a way for all of them to get home safely.
Can you share with us your first book ever published?
The first book I had published was called Immortal Desires which is now with its second publisher as the first one closed. It’s a vampire novel very dear to my heart. Not because it’s the first one I wrote, but because it has many elements of my life in it.
Amara dreams about a man who leaves her breathless. Everything in her yearns to discover who he is. Is he real? Or is she in love with a ghost? Her body aches from the memory of his caresses, but his name always eludes her.
Andrew feels the same longing, as his heart has never completely healed since he was separated from his lover lifetimes ago. In Amara, he discovers his lost love reborn. Will the sorrow of his soul be eased with their reunion? Or will his longings go unfulfilled?
Can your share with us your most recent release, or a soon to be release?
My most recent release is called Dragonkin out with Amira Press. Here is the blurb.
Dragons and spellcasters mate for life. The connections they form are beyond the physical. Kestrel had such a bond and lost it. For five hundred years, she had been alone. Then she meets Andrik, the dark, brooding prince. Drawn to him like no other, she isn’t sure how he will react if she confides in him about her sordid history.
Andrik feels the same pull toward Kestrel, but can’t reconcile his past. Torn between his duties and his feelings, he defies the king to tell her the truth. Together they embark on a harrowing quest to save the kingdom and themselves.
What has been your favorite book you have written so far? why is this one your favorite?
The favorite one I have written so far has to be Midnight Mocha. I keep finding myself coming back to the characters as they keep wanting to pop up in other books. But I resist the urge. Then again, it’s a vampire novel and I just love those of the undead, fanged persuasion.
Coffee is heaven for Sophia. Alex is as delicious as his Midnight Mochas that he makes especially for her. Sophia keeps her distance because she is promised to another. However, she secretly lusts after Alex. Alex desires Sophia, but he keeps himself away from her. He masquerades as an ordinary coffee shop owner, but it’s a ruse to protect his dark secret.
Alex is a vampire who wants to claim Sophia as his own. There’s only one problem. Another vampire has set his sights on Sophia. Will Alex win her heart in time? Or will he lose her forever.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us today?
Lots of people ask me why I stick strictly to the paranormal. One of the reasons I do, is because I’ve had encounters with the supernatural. Whether others believe in ghosts or other things, I’ve had experiences that some can’t explain. I’ve seen ghosts, fairy lights, and well other things that most people don’t want to talk about. Being psychic, it opens my mind to a whole different world that I try to bring across in my books.

19 Hottie Follwers Thoughts:
I love dragons because they are so fierce and have a monstrous appetite for food, sex, jewels, and life it's self. You can help but to be drawn to their brawn! I haven't read any of Crymsyn's books before and I am looking forward to reading them!

Hello Crymsyn!
I haven't read a dragon story before. I love paranormal romance, especially shifter stories but for some reason I've never read that particular kind of story. I think I would really enjoy it. I think it is interesting that your characters in Midnight Mocha won't leave you alone. Who knows, maybe there is a vampire series in your future. LOL

It's the fantasy behind them. Wolves, jungle cats, they really exist. Drangons are something of fantasy. Also I have read a dragon shifter book & they could do a partial shift and use that tail in some very SEXY ways.
Dragons are sexy because they are so big and strong... and dangerous. LOL And SHINY!
I haven't had any paranormal experiences but it was great to read about your influences.

Cindy, I completely agree with you. Dragons are Fierce and sexy.
Stacie, Actually the characters from Midnight Mocha kept talking so they developed their own world where the books are interconnected. I haven't written about them lately, but they are waiting.
Miranda, Shiny! You're funny. I like that.
Sometimes I wish that I hadn't had some of the paranormal experiences I had, but you gotta take the good with the bad.
Hi Crymsyn -
I love dragons though I've only read a few stories. I like how freakin' strong they are. There isn't much that can take them out (except a woman ;)). I like the myth that they were actually protecting the women they took not killing them like the stories of our childhoods portrayed. Figures nicely into the romantic view I have of them now.

Hi Crymsyn - just stopping by to say hi! I learn a bit more about you and your books with each interview I follow with you. Thanks for sharing!
I had no idea you've done 40 novels! Way to go. I can only hope to have that many one day. Keep writing!
Hi Victoria,
Yes dragons are very strong. And there is so much you can do with them. LOL.
Hi Ash,
Yes their human form is drop dead sexy and dool worthy. And you never know what is lurking in their dark side.
Hey Deanna,
Nice to see. Yeah my muses keep me busy. No time to sleep. I was lucky they gave me a short vacation this past week. I'm sure you will get there.
Hey Crymsyn - Great interview. Not sure what it is about dragons that bring a bit of sexy to a story but they do. Maybe it's their obvious strength and virile!
Will definitely have to check out your sites and books. Thanks for a wonderful interview!
Thanks Tonya.
Dragons are sexy because they're big and strong and fierce and can change into a huge fire-breathing lizard to protect you :-) Plus, they usually live for a really long time which means they have mad sexin' skills!
smaccall @ comcast.net
I haven't read many dragon stories but what I have read I have liked. I think they are more majestic. They are sexy and strong and the story always feels more refreshing since dragons haven't been done a lot.

When I was 15, I read Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight and falled in love with dragons. I read all the McCaffrey's Pern books I could found (in Spanish, then I couldn't speak English) and any dragon book I could found...
So, please, enter me :D

I haven't read about dragons before, but have read other paranormal books about shifters of other species. So what piques my interest with them is that they'll be something new for me to read about within the paranormal genre and it'll be interesting to see where the author takes it.
Thanks for the chance!
