AAD Meet and Greet: Author Cynnara Tregarth Interview + Giveaway
Mar 3, 2011
Cynnara Tregarth
My name is Cynnara Tregarth.I live in Central Florida and though people think that this would mean I'd be a tan, lean machine-- they'd be wrong. I burn, baby, burn if I'm out too long! I've been writing since I was 6 years old. Before then, I used to tell stories to anyone who'd listen. In 2000, after my pending divorce, I got serious about writing, especially writing romance. I knew I could write something that would appeal to others as much as the books I read appealed to me.
About you:
Do you have any hobbies?
I make beaded jewelry and I"m learning how to make
wire jewelry. I also walk with my dog, Shango different
places. I read, I love making bath salts. Occasionally,
I've been known to sew things. :D
What do you like to read?
Yes. *grins* Oh, you want to know what I read?
I read various romance, mysteries, nonfiction,
and pagan nonfiction as well. Oh, I also adore
fantasy and sci-fi fiction too.
Can you tell us some of your favorite books
you've read?
You're going to make me look at my books, aren't you?
*glances at the 2000 print books and through the 2000
ebooks* Okay, Flashpoint by Lena Austin, Deeper than
Dead by Tami Hoag, the entire Sword Singer series by
Jennifer Roberson. All of the Star Trek books. Then
there's more, lots more. LOL
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Joey Hill, Lena Austin, Olivia Gates, Selena Illyria,
Michelle Hasker, Cheyenne McCray, Kate Hill,
Kate Douglas, Silvia Violet, Lexxie Cooper, Tami Hoag,
Iris Johannsen, and Mercedes Lackey-- to name a few.
We've not even moved into the sci-fi/fantasy group yet!
If you can meet any author in person dead or alive,
who would it be and why him/her?
OMG, first Joey Hill. Then if we're looking at passed
away authors-- Roger Zelazny. I have to ask him
about the Amber series!
AAD:
What part of AAD are you most looking forward to?
Meeting everyone! There are authors there who I've not seen
in person but have talked to for years, so I'm thrilled
to see them and I can't wait to meet others who love romance.
What do you hope to walk away with from AAD?
Having a chance to network with readers, editors and authors.
To really emphasize to myself that not only is the romance
genre alive and well, but that I have a place in it too.
Have you ever been to AAD before?
If so what was your favorite part?'
I am an AAD virgin. This will be my first time. *grins*
Are you on any panels? if so can you tell
us which ones to look for you on?
I'll be on the e-publishing panel and who knows if I'll
slip into the BDSM panel as it's something I write as well.
Your Writing:
How did you first get into writing? Has it always
been your dream?
It started when I first started telling stories to neighbor
kids. Then once I learned how to write, it became a
priority to put those stories down on paper to keep.
I've always wanted to be a writer. When I discovered
Mercedes Lackey was a female fantasy
author-- I knew I wanted to be published too.
What genre do you write?
Yes. *grins* I don't do just one genre-- I hop
between paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy, erotic,
BDSM, etc. It's whatever story comes to me.
Do you have any must haves when you sit down to write?
Music, drink and a crit partner on IM. It helps to have
those things, though I can occasionally do without the
CP on IM. Just not often!
Can you tell us how a typical writing day for you is?
First I get rid of the nephew back to him mom, then I have
finished my email and my game playing. Second, I go
and reread what I've written before, giving me a chance
to self-edit and get back into the flow of the story itself.
Then I go write in 10-20 minute increments. I stop to
break for my male and my dog before I go back to dive
into the story again.
What is one thing you think sets you apart from
other authors?
My books are geared where the romance and the
plot are so intertwined you can't have one without the
other, but at the same time-- the romance isn't always
the main plot of the book.
Your Books:
Can you share with us anything you are currently
working on?
Right now, I'm working on a sci-fi pirate story,
where the heroine is the pirate. *grins* I'm actually
excited about this story because I've incorporated
things in there I've always wanted to try.
Can you share with us your first book ever published?
My first book ever published was Shades of Fyre. Currently it's up for sale at Red Rose Publishing.
Can your share with us your most recent release,
or a soon to be release?
My most recent release is Ride Me, Baby at Aspen Mountain Press. I love it because it's myfirst contemporary story I've ever sold. Plus there'sa hot man on a motorcycle!
What has been your favorite book you have
written so far? why is this one your favorite?
I don't have just one book that's my one and only favourite. Every book is my favourite as I'm writing it, then it's my least favourite when I'm editing. It's the way it is. The most memorable book is probably Cupid Shoots, She Scores because I took a lot of chances in that book for myself as a person
and as a writer.
Is there anything else you would like to share
with us today?
I'm grateful to the readers and reviewers out there.
Without them, I still wouldn't be published and I
wouldn't have the audience I do for my stories.
Though I do write the stories that come for me,
I want my stories to appeal to many people, not just one
certain segment of the romance market.

Hi Cynnara,
I love the title Cupid Shoots and Scores :).
I can also relate to fry baby fry. Put me in the sun for a couple minutes and it is not pretty.
Wishing you much success.

Hi Cynnara! Does your male or your dog ever get jealous of your attention to the writing?

I've got the same skin problem. Well, I used to think it was a problem until my tweenties. Now, I know is the way I am, but your presentation makes me think that you hear the same "pale" comments than me...
Thanks for your interview the giveaway, and good luck in the AAD!

Thanks for the interview! It's always nice to get to know a bit about new-to-me authors and their books!
Just a quick question for Cynnara: I know that you can't pick a favourite book of yours that you've written, but I was wondering if you have a favourite genre to write in and why?
