AAD Meet and Greet: Author Selena Illyria Interview
Mar 10, 2011
Interracial author Selena Illyria was born with an overactive imagination. With great curiosity and a love of writing that pushes her imagination there are many worlds she'd love to explore, from paranormal to sci-fi from cyberpunk and beyond.
Are you willing, dear reader, to step into her worlds? If you do feel free to poke around. Mind the pixies. They can be very um... excitable by newcomers. *wink*
About you:
Do you have any hobbies?
SI: Does eating chocolate and drooling over books I need to get count as a hobby? No? *whimper* Okay, how about FB games?
What do you like to read?
SI: It depends on my mood. Right now I want to read Menage and M/M books, later I'll probably want to read Urban Fantasy and Sci-Fi.
Can you tell us some of your favorite books you've read?
SI: Let's see my all time favorite would have to be the Count of Monte Cristo. That got me into reading. I just loved the atmosphere that was created.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
SI: Do you have a day or a week? I have so many it's hard to remember them all. I'll just name five, how's that? Alexander Dumas, Cat Marsters, Karen Marie Moning, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Willa Okati, Chris Marie Green, CE Murphy, crap, that's more than five right?
If you can meet any author in person dead or alive, who would it be and why him/her?
SI: Ooooh, that's so hard. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, because I'm reading a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories.
AAD:
What part of AAD are you most looking forward to?
SI: Meeting everyone and reconnecting with friends.
What do you hope to walk away with from AAD?
SI: The fun you can have and the goodies and books!
Have you ever been to AAD before? If so what was your favorite part?
SI: Yes, I was at the first one and the one last year. Hmm, I'd say just wandering around meeting people.
Are you on any panels? if so can you tell us which ones to look for you on?
SI: Yes, I'm on the Interracial panel. Oh, boy, I'm looking forward to them all. I can learn so much as well as be inspired.
Your Writing:
How did you first get into writing? Has it always been your dream?
SI: I started out writing fanfic and it progressed to original work.
What genre do you write?
SI: Mostly paranormal but I've branched out into sci-fi and fantasy.
Do you have any must haves when you sit down to write?
SI: Does having a muse count as a must have? LOL. I'd say music that fits the situation and evokes the emotions I want.
Can you tell us how a typical writing day for you is?
SI: After going through email, checking to see if there are any announcements I need to know about, I promo. After that, it's off the FB land to check on game requests and other things and then I settle down to write.
What is one thing you think sets you apart from other authors?
SI: I think I'm willing to take risks, not just stick to one genre but explore others.
Your Books:
Can you share with us anything you are currently working on?
SI: I'm currently working on my next contribution for Tease Publishing's, Love's Immortal Pantheon series, as well as a sequel to my newest release Dragon Kin: Binding Katrina and several other stories I've got on deck.
Can you share with us your first book ever published?
SI: My first book was called A Fling in Vampiropolis. It was about a woman who went on vacation to a city mostly populated by paranormals. She has a fling with a vampire while there and has to leave him just as things get started.
Can your share with us your most recent release, or a soon to be release?
SI: My latest release is Dragon Kin: Binding Katrina. It's about a woman who's been resisting her attraction to her co-worker only to end up spending a steamy weekend with him. It's out now at Changeling Press.
What has been your favorite book you have written so far?
why is this one your favorite?
SI: I think it's whatever I'm working on. It can be everything from a moment or something a character says.

2 Hottie Follwers Thoughts:
I love the answer to the first question - Does eating chocolate and drooling over books I need to get count as a hobby? No? *whimper*
I feel the same way ;).
