Halloween Bash: Day3 with Author Stella Price
Oct 26, 2010
Halloween has always been my favorite time of year. Some people are Christmas people, and some, like me, consider Halloween their Christmas. See, the wonder and imagination that’s associated with Halloween has always been a powerful draw. It’s the one night a year where you can dress up as something completely different, insane or wild and no one makes fun of you. For Halloween, its like your subconscious rules, especially as children. Hopes for the future and their real selves come out in what they chose, whether it’s a princess costumes, or a cowboy… children hold so much hope, so much promise, and so much imagination, they revel in a night to bring out their darker passions and selves.
Lets not forget the fact that there’s candy too. When I was growing up, we weren’t allowed candy, unless it was Halloween. And I worked my ass off to get at least a half full pillow case, that lasted me all year till the next Halloween.
Halloween for me has always been about choice, what to pretend to be, what to eat, what houses to visit. In the past I have been everything from a princess (gag) to comic book characters, to most recently book characters. While I don’t trick or treat anymore, I do still dress up to give out candy. Halloween still holds the same magic for me, and while I might not go candy collecting, seeing the little ones who are starting on the road for the first time is awesome. Parents and kids keep the imagination alive, and without it, writers, artists and musicians wouldn’t exist.
So my favorite Halloween Movie is actually and old one from when I was small. I used to wait until October, when I knew it would be on HBO (yes this was ages ago!) and I would watch it EVERY time it came on. The movie is called The Worst Witch. It is about a misfit girl who has trouble at her witchery school, is bullied by the head of the class, and has trouble flying. So after a very embarrassing ordeal, she leaves school, only to thwart a coven of evil witches in their bid for taking over the school.
Sounds like a book right? IT WAS! Which is another reason I love it. The Movie starred Faruiza Balk, (Nancy from the Craft) when she was little, and done right after she starred in Return to Oz. If you can find it, get it and show your kids, its one of the cutest movies ever, AND Timy Curry (from Rocky Horror fame) is in it as the grand High wizard, and sings a song!

First, when you have your virtual dress up on the screen, press the shift button and the print screen button at the same time.
Then, if you go into the start menu, click accessories, and you'll see paint.
Then...press the ctrl button and the v button while holding down the ctrl.
Then you can just choose the send button and that will link you to your email program.
Otherwise, you can choose save, give it a name, and then attach it to an email.

Never heard of that movie, but the actors in it are good. I'll have to look for it while watching my usual scary movies.

My favorite holiday is St Patty's Day for a similar reason - when else can you wear that many shades of green and get away with it? :)
Love the books Stella & Audra! I love that you write for all different types of creatures... 'Demons, Djinn, Satyrs, Weresnakes, Fallen Angels, Witches, Ifrit, Jenai, and Dragons.' It's so hard to choose:)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Sounds like a movie I need to find so that I can have it for my granddaughter next year.
This past weekend, I watched the original black and white film versions of "Frankenstein" and "Dracula". They were excellent! I was quite enthralled--no wonder they are classics!
