AAD Meet and Greet: Author Seleste DeLaney + Tuesday Talking Teaser + Giveaway
Apr 19, 2011
You know what time it is!!! It's time for another fabulous AAD Author Meet and Greet!
And today we have the wonderful Seleste DeLaney here with us sharing her
And Seleste will be reading from
After a brutal Civil War, America is a land divided. As commander of her nation's border guards, Ever is a warrior sworn to protect her country and her queen. When an airship attacks and kills the monarch, Ever must infiltrate enemy territory to bring home the heir to the throne, and the dirigible Dark Hawk is her fastest way to the Union.
Captain Spencer Pierce just wants to pay off the debt he owes on the Dark Hawk and make a life for himself trading across the border. When the queen's assassination puts the shipping routes at risk, he finds himself Ever's reluctant ally.
As they fly into danger, Ever and Spencer must battle not only the enemy but also their growing attraction. She refuses to place her heart before duty, and he has always put the needs of his ship and crew above his own desires. Once the princess is rescued, perhaps they can find love in the Badlands— if death doesn't find them first...
Seleste’s first attempt at a novel was a sweeping epic romance called Wars and Wishes, Disasters and Dreams. She finished about three chapters before deciding she had better things to do. At twelve years old, most girls wouldn’t have made it that far. She went on to write numerous short stories and poems throughout her teens, but it wasn’t until after earning a degree in chemistry that she returned to her love of writing fiction. In addition to her Carina Press work, Seleste also has work with Decadent Publishing, including her debut story Of Course I Try.
These days, Seleste splits her time between the worlds in her imagination and her home in southwest Michigan. Her husband and two children have learned not to worry too much when she doesn’t seem all there, and her dogs are attached enough that they wait patiently by her feet until she returns.
What part of AAD are you most looking forward to?
Since this is my first time, I'm looking forward to several things at AAD. First and foremost is connecting to readers. I'm horrible with names, but I love meeting people. So you may have to poke me with a stick until I remember your name, but it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy hanging with you (learning names was the bane of my existence as a teacher). I'm also on the lookout for what cons I want to become a regular at, so I can't wait to see how I "fit" with AAD. Plus, it's also an opportunity to connect with other authors, book bloggers, and publishing pros. Mainly I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
What genre do you write?
I actually write in a few genres beneath the speculative fiction umbrella. I have published paranormal romance, paranormal/urban fantasy, and steampunk. I also have a couple sci-fi projects started that will hopefully be finished someday. To me the important thing as an author who likes to genre jump is to keep my voice consistent. Readers who like my voice in steampunk will find a similar feel if they read my other work.
What has been your favorite book you have written so far? why is this one your favorite?
I'm cheating and changing book to character. I love all my stories for different reasons, so choosing a favorite at this point is really hard. A character, however... There is a guy in the piece I'm subbing to some agents right now that I L-O-V-E. Remy is flamboyant and snarky and playful, but it's all a front to hide this devious brilliance. Of everyone I've ever written, he's the most real in my head. I can see him and hear his voice in all its different intonations. I'd be a little nuts to wish he was real, but I sure as hell would love to sit down for a few drinks with him LOL.

8 Hottie Follwers Thoughts:
Hmmm combine magic and machine, well I guess I would have a magi machine the could cure world hunger. Have it magically make food for everyone.
I really enjoyed this interview and I look forward to reading the book, it's been added to my TBR list :D
Thanks for sharing about never remembering names hehehe

Hope you like the book and curing world hunger is a great plan :)
Sooooo bad with names. I met this woman at RT this year and was so proud of myself for remembering her name. Then I looked at her badge and did a double take. Openly admitted "I thought your name was Erica." She laughed at me, the name on her badge was her pen name. I think hers was the only name I remembered without a reminder though. It's very sad.
Hmmmmm, the power that a magic machine could have. This ones a tough. There are so many things I could think of to have. Going along with my rule of harm none, I think I would like some type of small device with a magic mute button. Oh yes when the kids are chattering away non-stop or whining, how perfect to just flip a little switch and shazam! Quiet! Would also come in handy for the ever present nagging husband!!!!!
As always, I think you are fabulous! Wonderful interview!!
I'm going to go naughty. Since we're combining magic and a machine, I'd like a magic vibrator. Hey, it's a machine and when magic is involved thing can get deliciously dirty.
This was a great interview for a sinfully sweet author!

OMG! My kids so needed a magic mute button tonight. My son heard a riddle today that made no sense and he wouldn't stop talking about it. Just a little peace and quiet...please????
Hehe I like the sounds of a magic vibrator too. So many evil thoughts going with that one.
Magic and machine..Obviously a great idea would be to make fairy robots 8D

Hehe I'm not sure what we'd do with fairy robots, but they would make excellent spies ;-)
I would make a machine that cured all illness and power it with magic.
