AAD Meet and Greet: Author P.J. Schnyder Interview + Giveaway
Apr 11, 2011
About you Do you have any hobbies?
Absolutely. I practice mixed martial arts - Muay Thai, Jun Fan/JKD and Kali. I plan to start getting into a little Brazilian Jiu Jitsu too. I also assist in self defense workshops provided by my school, Tri State Martial Arts Academy. In fact, I've done a couple of educational posts regarding the importance of self defense. One of my characters, Mackenzie of Heart's Sentinel, was viciously attacked by her stalker. For Mackenzie and people everywhere, I strongly emphasize how important it is to be aware. What do you like to read?
I love to read urban fantasy, science fiction and dark fantasy.
Can you tell us some of your favorite books you've read?
Some of my favorite series include the Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop, all of the titles by Patricia Briggs including her older Sianim books and duologies, and many of the stories by Anne McCaffrey or David Weber.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Anne Bishop, Patricia Briggs and Anne McCaffrey, definitely. Also Lisa Kleypas and Lora Leigh.
If you can meet any author in person dead or alive, who would it be and why him/her?
I think I'd like to meet Anne Bishop and introduce her to my Shetland Sheepdog. Considering the Scelties in her Black Jewels books, Anne would understand my love for my Chelsea.
AAD:
What part of AAD are you most looking forward to?
I'm very much looking forward to meeting readers. I'd love to meet anyone who has read my stories. Plus, it'd be great to meet fellow readers who love the same titles I love!
What do you hope to walk away with from AAD?
New friends and new titles to read. I'd also hope I could walk away knowing some of the people I met would enjoy reading my stories too.
Have you ever been to AAD before? If so what was your favorite part?
This will be my first AAD and I am incredibly excited.
Are you on any panels? if so can you tell us which ones to look for you on?
Yes and I'd love to meet people, so please do come look for me. Here are the panels I'll be on: When the ending isn’t HEA E book Authors Guess the book from the Sex Scene Author Blog Fail
Your Writing:
How did you first get into writing? Has it always been your dream?
I’ve been writing stories since childhood. I had a big life change in January of 2010 and threw myself into my writing and into the idea of becoming a published author. I would say the Authoress Anonymous' site, Miss Snark's First Victim, was an incredible learning resource for me as I was getting started. It's still a great place to go to learn more and to participate in a great writing community. (http://misssnarksfirstvictim.blogspot.com/)
I write both paranormal romance and science fiction romance.
Do you have any must haves when you sit down to write?
Something to write on. ;)
Can you tell us how a typical writing day for you is?
Oh wow, there isn't a typical writing day for me. I work a very demanding day job that requires quite a bit of travel. I could find myself writing from a hotel room or a plane or waiting at the airport terminal. Other times, I might be home writing in my living room surrounded by my dogs with super sekrit ninja kitty supervising. You don't ever want to sneak up on me in my home office with the predators guarding the hallway.
What is one thing you think sets you apart from other authors?
Every author has a particular voice or style of writing or creative process. I think all of those factors make the quirky combination that is me.
Your Books:
Can you share with us anything you are currently working on?
I've got several projects in the works right now. There’s the next book in the Terra’s Guardians series. I have to apologize to my readers because they’ve had a bit of a wait for it, but I want it to be a great story. I’ve also got books 2 and 3 of The Triton Experiment lightly outlined, as well as a draft novel kicking off a completely new urban fantasy/paranormal romance series in the works.
Can you share with us your first book ever published?
My first book published is Heart's Sentinel, Book 1 of the Terra's Guardians series. It is also my first book to print! Heart's Sentinel is a paranormal romance set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans rebuild their cities of technology and shapeshifters restore the wilds.
Can your share with us your most recent release, or a soon to be release?
I'm very excited about Hunting Kat, releasing in July 2011 from Carina Press. Hunting Kat is Book 1 of The Triton Experiment series. Kaitlyn takes a chance when she gets involved with Lt. Rygard. As a merc, she tends to avoid the military types who might decide to lock her up like a lab animal. When their tryst is interrupted by predatory aliens hunting Rygard, she saves the soldier’s ass and buys him the chance to redeem himself by revealing her other form, the predator beneath the human façade.
What has been your favorite book you have written so far? why is this one your favorite?
Honestly, I don't have a favorite. I love every one of my stories for individual reasons.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us today?
If you see me at AAD, please do stop me and say Hi. I'm awful with names but remember faces and would love to meet new people.

11 Hottie Follwers Thoughts:

You're a new author for me. From the above I can tell I'd really enjoy your books.
For some reason I can't find what panels you're attending. Wish I could go to this but it never works out for me :(.

Wow, Anon, thanks very much for the enthusiasm!
Hi Victoria, I'll be on the following panels at AAD Philly:
-"When the ending isn’t HEA"
-"E book Authors"
-"Guess the book from the Sex Scene" -"Author Blog Fail"
-"Food and Clothing in Romance: DETAILS"
It would be wonderful to meet you sometime at one of these conventions. Maybe one will come up i the near future. :)
The panels I would be most intested in would be Food & Clothing in Romance and E book Authors, but I will not be at AAD. Live too far away and have anxiety of crowds.
Your books sound great. Thanks for the giveaway.

Hi June,
Thanks for commenting. Please consider emailing me with the panels you'd be most interested in - not just the ones I'll be on but also any others you're interested in. Based on interest, we may try to live stream or video some of them!
I can't wait to meet you :-)
Drat, I already own both of those. Ah well, I shall hold out for your new book, "Hunting Kat" and look forward to seeing you in Boston. :)
It would be great to meet you both! :D
I would be most interested in the panel: when the ending isn't HEA. As romance readers we are geared toward the HEA in the story. I've read a few books that didn't give me the HEA I expected but gave one that was realistic and appropriate for the story. It was a more interesting book because of it.

I think I'd be most interested in the When the ending isn't HEA or Guess the book from the sex scene.
I've never read any of your work but a friend of mine has and she really liked the book that she read.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I forgot my email!
