Shifter Love: Wild and Furry, RAWR!

When I sat down to write my first book ever I was going through a phase of reading nothing but paranormal books and I'd fallen head over heels for shifters. So I narrowed it down to either dragons or big cats. I thought about wolves for a few seconds but honestly I LOVE big cats. They are such gorgeous predatory creatures that can easily fool you with their majestic beauty. Then if you're not careful they'll simply bite you.

Despite the fact that I own a gorgeous (read: big baby) white Husky, I still opted to write about the kitties. They've always fascinated me and since I'd need to spend time on research I went for my first choice.

My first stop in that research was BigCatRescue.org a fantastic organization in Florida dedicated to the care and protection of big cats. I encourage all of you to check out their website. It's awesome and they have some of the best videos. If you ever need to research some kitties yourself, start here.

If I ever had the opportunity to have an in person book release party for one of my shifter books (and yes I have plans for a new spin off shifter series) I'd want to have it at Big Cat Rescue in Florida. Not only do they offer a party house but you can schedule day and night time tours. I can't think of a better way to get people in the mood for a fun and sexy shifter book than to immerse them into the world of big cats and in the DARK!

Not to mention the kitties tend to be more active at night so there'd be a lot more going on. Unfortunately I don't live very close to Big Cat Rescue despite Florida being where I grew up. I do hope to visit there someday and you never know, a party filled with real live tigers, lions, cougars, leopards and more sounds just up my alley.
