AAD Meet and Greet: Author Rita Sawyer Interview + Giveaway
Feb 18, 2011
Please help me give a warm welcome to AAD Author Rita Sawyer!
Rita Sawyer
When it comes to writing I have always made up stories to entertain my kids. As they grew up I began writing romances to entertain myself. Luckily I have a wonderful supportive family, and friends that are willing to sit there and listen to me ramble on about what my characters have done, or are about to do.
When I’m not totally caught up in getting my characters and scenes fleshed out I can usually be found with her nose stuck in a book, or snuggled up on the couch with my hubby or one of my kids watching a movie. I enjoy spending time with my big noisy family, and not just because they provide me with lots of ideas for my stories.
About you:
JJBC - Do you have any hobbies?
RS - Cooking and baking. I used to fancy myself
with a future as a cake decorator, but an injury to my
wrist made me reconsider.
JJBC -What do you like to read?
RS - Anything. Romance is my favorite all of the
sub-genres, but truly I’ll read anything. The only thing
I have a hard time with is 1st person narrative.
JJBC -Can you tell us some of your favorite books
you've read?
RS - I loved the Irish Born trilogy by Nora Roberts.
JJBC -Who are some of your favorite authors?
RS - Lori Foster, Eliza Gayle, Nora Roberts,
Sabrina Jeffries, and Lydia Dare.
JJBC -If you can meet any author in person
dead or alive, who would it be and why him/her?
RS - I don’t know. I have this strange habit of fan girl
squealing, so I tend to keep my distance. I do take
pictures from far away. The zoom button is my
best friend.
AAD:
JJBC -What part of AAD are you most
looking forward to?
RS - Meeting other authors and readers in a
great relaxed atmosphere.
JJBC -What do you hope to walk away with
from AAD?
RS - I’d like to walk away with one of the awesome raffle
baskets and lots of books. No seriously I just want
to have a good time and hopefully meet some
of the great authors I’ve read.
JJBC -Have you ever been to AAD before?
If so what was your favorite part?
RS - Yes. I went last year. The whole thing
from start to finish was pretty amazing.
JJBC -Are you on any panels?
RS - Yeah, and I have to say I’m a little nervous.
This is going to be my first time.
If so can you tell us which ones to look for you on?
I’m on the Erotic Romance and the When the
details are just as important as the Story:
Food and Clothing in Romance panels.
Your Writing:
JJBC -How did you first get into writing?
RS - I’ve always been a big reader. After listening
to me tell him what I would have done differently
my husband told me I should just write my own story.
He bought me a laptop to make sure I did.
Has it always been your dream? I think so I made
up stories for my kids at nap and bedtime.
JJBC -What genre do you write?
RS - Contemporary romance. My heat levels vary
from sensual to sizzling, but hopefully they all have
a hint of humor.
JJBC -Do you have any must haves when you
sit down to write?
RS - No, but I’m seem to get the best ideas
when I’m out driving around with my husband.
Whenever I feel stuck we just go for a ride.
JJBC -Can you tell us how a typical writing
day for you is?
RS - I don’t have one. I probably should set up
some type of schedule.

RS - Right now I’m working on book 5 in my Brazen Sister Series with Siren Publishing.

RS - I would have to say A Damsel Without A Dress

one your favorite? I came up with the title first, and
the story came so quickly and easily. It really shouldn’t
be because it has s big black spider in it, one
of my biggest fears.
