Wednesdays W’s ?!?
Jul 20, 2011
So this week we are hearing more and more about Borders and the closing of all the stores ?!? (so sad) Is this due to more and more people buying e-books verses print, or is it people are buying more and more online verses in-store? Is it in part that you can now read books on so many devices such as phones, e-readers, tablets, etc? Do you still buy print, or have you gone to more e-books than anything?
So today’s Wednesday W’s is:
What format do you prefer when book buying / reading?
~E-Book ?!?
~Paperback ?!?
~Hardback ?!?
~Online ?!?
~In-Store ?!?
For me I do read e-books, but honestly I have yet to actually buy an ebook. What e-books I have, I have received for review. But if I’m spending my hard earned money, I want something physically in my hands. And don’t get me started on pricing! I saw someone yesterday say that one place sells new e-books for $18 - $20 each! That I just don’t understand.
And my shelves. Oh man! I love love LOVE setting out my books on all my millions of shelves (ok not that many, but a lot) so everyone can see them! They are just so pretty! Yes I am one of those that thinks a bunch of books lined up on a shelf so everyone can see them , is Wonderful!!! I love to share my love of reading. And very few people come into my house, see all my books and not start up a conversation about them and what I like to read!
So for me, even though e-books take up no space on my shelves, are easier to take with you in quantity if you are going somewhere, I am and always will have a place in my home for physical print books! *winks* especially if they have a HAWT Highlander on the front! *snickers*
So what about you?

3 Hottie Follwers Thoughts:
I like a book in hand the most but won't pass up an e-book for my Kindle.

I love the feel of a print book in my hand. But I live in a small condo and we don't have a lot of space for bookshelves. We have 3 really pretty glass door shelves we picked up from IKEA (and I plan to pick more up when we buy a house - we're looking now and we're planning on including space for an office/library for me) but I only have so much space for my books. So, the majority of books I buy these days are eBook so that I can cart them around with me on my Kindle and I don't have to worry about having enough room in my house.
I'm really sad to see the end of Borders. It's like the end of a part of my childhood. I want to say "At least we still have B&N" but realistically, how much longer do we have B&N? If Borders shut down because people aren't buying as many print books, doesn't that mean other bookstores are next? :( god, I hope not. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't walk into a bookstore and get my hands on a book any time I wanted.
Please excuse any typos. I'm on my iPhone and you know how that goes...
It's quite impressive.
