Blog Bash Day 21 with PJ Schnyder + Giveaway
Aug 29, 2011
What makes a guy hot in my eyes? Physique, gorgeous eyes and a sensual mouth, these are all good things. And many know I've got a weakness for a man who makes a uniform look good. I do look for that little something extra. Something that gives the man an identity, that takes him from good-looking to magnetic.
Meet Ian Daviau, fitness model and consultant.
Yes, my friends, Ian is insanely hot. He's also a great guy and well-balanced person. He's real.
You can find him on Facebook.
If he doesn't put you in the mind of fitness and healthy living, well...maybe this next recipe will warm you up to the idea. This is one of my favorite salads to make when friends ask me to make Thai food for them.
Thai Nam Tok Salad
Ingredients:
2 lbs. meat (beef steak or pork )
salt and pepper
3 to 4 shallots
3 to 4 stalks spring onion
4 to 6 limes
2 Tbsp fish sauce or to taste
1 tsp dried Thai chili flakes
1/2 cup roasted, ground rice (see below)
1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
1/4 to 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
Roasted, Ground Rice:
Take 1 cup uncooked Jasmine rice and add to a small pan.
Roast over low-medium heat until aromatic and golden brown.
Remove and place in food processor or well-cleaned coffee grinder. Process until rough ground - just a couple of bursts. Do not process until it becomes powder.
Nam Tok Salad:
Liberally prep meat with salt and pepper. Grill beef or pork steak to medium rare. Note: with pork, it should be cooked through but still very tender and juicy. Hint of pink is not going to kill you.
Let rest.
Finely slice shallots and green onions. Toss in a large bowl with plenty of space for salad tossing.
Add juice of at least 4 limes. Set others aside for possible taste later. Add fish sauce and dried Thai chili flakes.
Note: could use Italian red chili flakes, but the taste won't be quite the same.
Thinly slice meat against the grain and add to bowl. Add juices from slicing meat into the bowl also. (This is important!)
Toss meat with all juices, spring onions and shallots. Taste. Add additional lime juice and fish sauce to taste.
Roughly chop cilantro leaves. Add cilantro and mint leaves to bowl. Toss again. Taste again.
Once salad is to taste, add roasted, ground rice. Toss thoroughly. Transfer to serving platter. Serve.
Enjoy!
Well now, my friend Ian looks a bit predatory in that second pic, doesn't he? He puts me in the mind of my latest release, Hunting Kat from Carina Press.
Hunting Kat
As a mercenary, Kat Darah doesn’t have to pass for a normal human. On the edge of the solar system, she’s just another biped. Most of the time.Nearing the end of his military tour, Lt. Christopher Rygard debates the idea of hanging up his uniform for good. Looking for answers at the bottom of a glass of scotch, he meets Kat. One shared night of mutual desire seems harmless. But when their tryst is interrupted by attackers hunting Rygard, Kat must reveal her other form, the predator beneath the human façade.Together they embark on a dangerous mission—a race against time to meet the enemy’s demands, while trying to deny the passion between them. Rygard is faced with a terrible choice in the face of duty: Report the existence of a human turned shape-shifter. Or forget he ever met her.

Great Contest

It's still summer here even though we were in the upper 60's yesterday, we've got 90 degree days coming by the end of the week. They even used those exact words (Summer is still here) last night on the news.

Great contest. I would have to say that my favorite part of a guy is his eyes. I love any color of eyes, especially blue or grey eyes. I work at a hotel and see attractive guys all the time. I have one guy that comes almost every week for the past four months. he has a prettiest grey eyes i have ever see. Damon from Vampire Diaries has the best eyes ever. Then the next thing is the backside(butt). I love it when you see a guy and he is as good looking walking towards you as walking away.

You mean there is a time called Summer? Time all just seems to flow together for me.
vsloboda(at)gmail(dot)com
at my house and everywhere we've went this year. It's still in the 90's at my house. and I am so ready for fall. If it will just hurry up and get here.
You book sounds great.
You mean there really is such a season as summer? I thought it was a myth as we haven't had a decent one in Wales for years :(
I know it: in the South of Spain, I saw it in the tv. I live in the North and the Sun didn't pass the mountains. My worst "Summer" ever :(
Thanks for the international chance.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Summer came later for us here, it was a dreary July but then the sunshine came to play in August. I believe my summer went to spending time outdoors, barbecuing and the seasonal clean-up where the family throws away junk and other stuff we don't need.

Weather wise it's still summer here in the South, but I know what you mean. Most kids are already into their second or third week of school. They really don't have summer vacations anymore. Here they have about 9 weeks for summer.
Thanks for the fabulous giveaway.

That is a very good question. I can't believe that the first 8 months will be over in a few days! Before we know it, it will be winter, snowing and the holidays. And I don't even want to think about shopping for presents and all that crap LOL. But right now where I am, Kentucky, it is still pretty warm. High 80's and sometimes 90's.
I would love to win a copy of this book. It sounds great. Please enter me in the contest.

xander_316(at)hotmail(dot)com
We just moved from California to the Seattle area and though I mostly grew up in Seattle I was nervous leaving behind my heat and sunshine but am happy to say we have had some nice summer days. On the negative we have an older hous wiht no a/c so I feel like I am in a sauna as soon as the sun does come out :)

The kids may be back in school but here in Texas is still feels like summer with temps in the 100s. I didn't get any time off so it never really felt like summer to me. Sad but true!
mmafsmith at gmail dot com
Summer was swallowed by all the incredible things that happened in the last three months. Some good, some bad and some just because. I miss summer already. Perhaps mother nature will see fit to extend the warm temps since we dealt with the other stuff.

I wish I knew where the summer went. The last 4 weeks have been a blur from attending RomCon and then AAD the next weekend. And then spending 2 weeks on vacation with the family, August has been a blur. Worst part is I'll blink my eyes and it will be Christmas.

I am so glad it's over. It has been an uphevel the whole summer. I need my schedule back!
jepebATverizonDOTnet
I have no idea where the summer went. I felt like it was too short! I wanted more vacation time, but it was only a mere week for me.
angeldream3[AT]gmail[DOT]com
I was wondering that myself, seemed like just yesterday - just hoping we don't get a bad winter :(
vampiremistress2010(at)gmail(dot)com
Beats me! I've been wondering the same thing... summer was just way to short this year.
ruby95660[at]yahoo[dot]com
Thank you for the awesome giveaway opportunity. I would really love to read Hunting Kat and it is definitely on my wishlist. My summer - just up and sped by - I don't want to go to the store and see the dreaded Christmas displays that are put out earlier and earlier every year and just think it is only four months until the new year. Work has been crazy and causes one day to run into another - I have not even had a chance to play yet :) so I will enjoy a good book and blog and appreciate the joy of a good giveaway fun.
dz59001[at]gmail[dot]com
Thanks for the contest. I don't think summer is over yet. I think we still have some more hot days coming. Tore923@aol.com
It seems that Summer turns into Winter anymore...no Fall or Spring..I miss that...Thanks for the chance to win.....lprater@modweldco.com
